Can anyone guess what the background painting represents? I tried to make it easier to read. We will see.

Absolutely! I thought that really is an example of the Church Militant.

Pope St. Pius V, who provided the ovearching leadership and ships, had a vision of the victory at the precise time the Ottomans' defeat occurred, as is documented by a witness. Cervantes was seriously wounded during the battle, which he considered an honor his entire life. Approximately 12,000 Christian slaves were freed from the holds of the Turks' ships. Lepanto stands as one of the most significant battles in the last two milleni, although the Holy League could not follow up on the victory, due to Venetian squabling with Spain and others. It seems Venice was prone to cause problems and eventually dissolved the League, due to her trading policies with the Ottoman Empire and protestant princes.

This new background is better. Not so dominating. I can read the posts now!

That's what I was hoping. The others were either too bright or too busy.

Perhaps I am alone, but I find the architecture to disrupt the text. It makes it difficult to read on the bottom half of my monitor.

It is a very nice picture, though.

Another problem, I'm sorry to say! I often copy and paste interesting passages from websites to Word documents, but when the text is white you just get a blank page. Do other people do this and would they find it a problem? I don't know how the text would print out, as I don't have a printer, but I imagine the same.

What about a lighter background and pictures down the side? Although I can scroll easily enough, the picture below is a bit of a distraction.

On my computer, you are able to scroll the text as you read it so that it can be read against the black background. Can everyone else's computer do that? I didn't really want just a coloured background. All images would cause a certain difficulty with the text, but with a black sky you can scroll up so that the text has only black behind it. If people cannot scroll I will have to get rid of any images.

Try either select all from the edit menu, or select by normal clicking and dragging your mouse across the screen. It will still highlight the text even though it seems invisible. Once you have the white text highlighted, then changed the color from the font menu. Then copy/paste as normal. Hope that helps, works for me.

I will consider it, though that is not at all what I wanted for the forum. It reminds me of a blog.
